- The DEZERIAN ASSIGNMENT Copyright 1993 Steve Englestad
-
- The Dezerian Assignment has two major assignments. Codename RED KEY
- places you on a desert world in search of the Red Key. You drive a
- desert vehicle with a first-person view and visit trading posts and oases.
-
- You have been landed on Dezeria by the Federation of United Planets to
- seek out the Red Key which is needed to proceed to the second stage of
- the Dezerian Assignment, Codename DESTRUCT
-
- This adventure requires EGA graphics capability, and a hard drive. It
- will run on 286 machines but 386 and up is recommended.
-
- Installation:
-
- Copy all the files to a new directory on your hard drive.
-
- If in a zip file (REDKEY.ZIP), unzip the file.
-
- Run UNPRED at the DOS prompt to unpack the compressed files.
-
- Once all the files are unpacked you are ready to begin by entering
- REDKEY at the DOS prompt. It would be a good idea to print out the
- documentation and read it before starting the game.
-
- If you wish to continue your adventure after successfully finding the
- RED KEY and getting picked up, DO NOT initialize the game but order The
- Dezerian Assignment: DESTRUCT and load all the files from that disk
- right on top of your successfully completed RED KEY Assignment. You will
- then be able to run DESTRUCT and use the red key to proceed to the next
- assignment.
-
- Documentation is in the file REDKEY.DOC
-
- REDKEY.EXE is the program to run to run the adventure.
- INITRED.EXE is the initialization program which lets you clear
- your progress and start the game over.
-
- SNAP.BAT By entering SNAP i where i is a digit from 0 to 9
- RESTORE.BAT and RESTORE i in the same way, you can save and restore
- your progress from the DOS prompt.
-
- REDKEY.DOC is the full documentation for the game and can be printed
- to any standard printer. Read for full details.
-
- REGIS.DOC A single page registration/order form.
-
- CONFIG.SYS A version of CONFIG.SYS to be copied to the root
- directory if you do not have one. It shows how the
- FILES and BUFFERS commands should read.

- Dezerian Assignment: DESTRUCT
-
- This follow-up to RED KEY takes you through the completion of the
- Dezerian saga. In a unique technique of leading the successful
- completion of one adventure into another, DESTRUCT must be installed
- in the directory where RED KEY has been successfully completed.
- The red key found in the first quest gives you access beyond the
- first quadrant and into the further reaches of the planet as you
- search for signs of your predecessor, Johnston and seek out the
- Galactic Vaporizor Device (GVD) before time runs out. The map
- included with RED KEY (sent upon registration) covers the entire planet.
- With DESTRUCT you receive a hints manual to help you use the many
- objects that will be found and you continue your quest.
-
-
- First Expedition
-
- An ocean-going adventure supported by island charts and sky charts
- and a protractor to plot your position as you explore a fictional
- ocean world. This is an earlier game of mine which uses CGA level
- graphics but it is one of the bet CGA packages I've seen. It is
- cleanly presented and fully supported by a wonderful story of the
- invading Menace which left the ocean planet so frightened, no one
- has left their island for generations until you go on your voyage.
-
- The Quest for the Trinity Controllers
-
- Once I completed First Expedition, I created a whole new world in
- which you can explore using the same craft. The story is different
- and the islands are all different in shape, location and nature.
- A more advanced island creation routine permitted me to create clusters
- of islands. The story is set in a land of sorcerers and magic. I call
- this adventure The Quest for the Trinity Controllers. The messages in
- Trinity tend to lead you more than in the original First Expedition
- which has the background story book for hints and insights. Trinity
- is a new data set to be run with the same program as First Expedition.
- You receive a new data set on floppy, a story booklet and a new chart
- of the world of the Quest. You must register First Expedition to
- purchase this set.
